Possible Causes
Door lock not engaging, Overtemperature thermostat open, Faulty self-clean relay on control board, Incorrect temperature sensor reading in clean mode
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool and power is off before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- Door lock check: Start a self-clean cycle and listen for the door lock motor. If the door does not lock, inspect the lock assembly and wiring.
- Safety thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat on top of the oven cavity. Test for continuity; replace if open and not resettable.
- Sensor verification: Confirm the oven temperature sensor is within specification; replace if faulty.
- Control board: If all hardware is good, the control board may not be driving the self-clean relays correctly and should be replaced.
Warning: Never bypass safety thermostats for self-clean; temperatures are extremely high.
