Possible Causes
Weak thermocouple, Misaligned thermocouple tip, Loose thermocouple connection at valve, Faulty flame failure gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply before working on thermocouples or valves.
Steps:
- Align thermocouple: Ensure the thermocouple tip is directly in the flame when the burner is lit. Gently bend it closer if needed.
- Clean tip: Lightly clean the thermocouple tip with fine abrasive pad to remove oxidation.
- Check connection: Under the cooktop, tighten the thermocouple nut at the gas valve.
- Replace thermocouple: If the flame still goes out when you release the knob, replace the thermocouple.
- Valve replacement: If a new thermocouple does not solve the issue, the safety valve may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
Warning: Always leak-test gas connections after reassembly.
