Possible Causes
Blocked cooling fan or vents, Failed cooktop cooling fan, Excessive ambient temperature in cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all burners and allow the unit to cool.
Steps to check:
- Clear ventilation: Ensure cabinet space under the cooktop is not packed with items blocking airflow. Maintain clearances per installation manual.
- Check cooling fan: With power on and a burner running, listen for the internal cooling fan. If it never runs, disconnect power and access the fan from below.
- Inspect and test fan: Check for obstructions and spin the fan by hand. Test motor resistance; replace the fan motor if open or seized.
Note: Persistent E5 after fan replacement may indicate a faulty control module.
