Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Stuck bake or broil relay on EOC, Poor airflow around range causing overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working.

Steps to check:

  • Visual inspection: Open the oven and locate the temperature sensor probe (thin metal rod at rear wall). Check that it is firmly mounted and not bent or touching the oven wall.
  • Test sensor resistance: Remove the rear panel to access the sensor connector. Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F/21°C), it should read about 1050–1100 Ω. If far outside this range, replace the sensor.
  • Check for stuck relay: With power OFF, inspect the EOC board for burnt spots or welded relay contacts. If the oven continues heating even after being turned off, a relay may be stuck closed and the EOC must be replaced.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing the sensor or EOC, restore power and run a 350°F bake cycle. Monitor temperature and verify no F2 code returns.

Warning: Do not continue using the oven if it overheats or will not shut off; this is a fire hazard. Contact a technician if you are not comfortable testing live circuits.
