Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool fully before accessing internal components.
Steps to check:
- Listen for fan: During a bake cycle, a cooling fan should run (often behind the control panel). If you never hear it, suspect the cooling fan motor or its circuit.
- Inspect vents: Check that the rear and top vents of the range are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or other obstructions.
- Access cooling fan: Remove the rear panel or top cover (depending on model) to locate the cooling fan assembly. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely.
- Test fan motor: With power disconnected, check resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you are qualified, you can also test for 120V/230V supply to the fan during operation.
- Replace fan: If the motor is bad, remove mounting screws, transfer the fan blade to the new motor if separate, and reinstall.
Note: Persistent F8 after fan replacement may indicate a faulty EOC that misreads temperature; in that case, replace the EOC.
