Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Bent or jammed door latch, Faulty door lock switch or wiring to EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before attempting to manually unlock the door or access the lock assembly.
Steps to check:
- Allow cooling: After self-clean, wait until the oven is completely cool; the lock will not release while hot.
- Manual release: On many Stoves ranges, you can access the lock mechanism by removing the top panel or rear panel and gently moving the lock arm to release the door. Consult your model's service information if available.
- Inspect lock assembly: With the rear or top panel removed, inspect the door lock motor, latch, and switches for damage or misalignment.
- Test lock motor: With power disconnected, check resistance of the lock motor coil. An open reading indicates a failed motor. Also verify continuity through any lock position switches.
- Replace lock assembly: Remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring, and install the new door lock motor/latch assembly, transferring wires one at a time.
Warning: Do not force the oven door open; this can bend the hinges and damage the frame.
