Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Failed electronic oven control reading incorrect temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
Steps:
- Visual inspection: Check inside the oven cavity around the sensor probe for signs of damage, melted insulation, or foil touching the probe.
- Test sensor resistance: Remove the sensor as for E1. Measure resistance at room temperature. A shorted sensor will show very low resistance (near 0 Ω). Replace if shorted.
- Check harness for shorts: Inspect the sensor wires from the probe to the control board. Look for spots where the insulation is rubbed through and touching metal. Repair or replace the harness as needed.
- Control board check: If the sensor and wiring test good but E2 persists, the EOC may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
