Possible Causes
Failed or tripped high-limit thermostat, Blocked cooling airflow, Faulty cooling fan, Control board misreading temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
Steps:
- Check ventilation: Ensure the range has proper clearance around it and that vents are not blocked by foil or panels.
- Inspect cooling fan: Access the cooling fan as described for E5. Confirm it runs during oven operation and is not obstructed.
- Locate high-limit thermostat: Typically mounted on the top of the oven cavity or rear panel. Check for a manual reset button (small red button) and press if present.
- Test thermostat: With power off, remove one wire and test continuity. An open thermostat that does not reset must be replaced.
If the thermostat and fan are good, the control board may be falsely detecting overtemperature and require replacement.
