Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation, Faulty cooling fan, Defective control PCB temperature sensor, Installation too close to oven without proper insulation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Surfaces and internal parts may be hot; allow cooling before inspection.

  • Check installation clearances: Confirm that the hob has the minimum ventilation gaps specified by Teka, especially if installed above a built-in oven.
  • Inspect fan and vents: Remove the hob, open the bottom cover, and check that the cooling fan spins freely. Clean dust from blades and vents. Replace the fan if seized or noisy.
  • Test operation: After cleaning, reassemble, restore power, and run at low power to see if E5 reappears.

When to call a technician: If E5 persists, the control board’s temperature sensor or the board itself may be faulty and should be replaced professionally.
