Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned thermocouple, Weak flame not heating sensor, Faulty thermocouple, Defective safety valve magnet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas before cleaning. Components may be hot.
- Clean thermocouple: Gently clean the thermocouple tip with fine steel wool or a soft abrasive pad to remove oxidation.
- Check flame contact: Ensure the flame directly touches the thermocouple. Adjust burner cap position if needed.
- Hold knob longer: After ignition, keep the knob pressed for 5–10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat sufficiently.
When to call a technician: If the flame still goes out, the thermocouple or safety valve must be tested and replaced.
