Possible Causes
Grease or food debris in knob hub, Cracked knob insert, Worn gas valve stem, Misaligned bezel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burners OFF and ensure no gas odor is present.
- Remove knobs: Pull the knobs straight off the valve stems.
- Clean area: Wipe the stem area and knob interiors with a mild degreaser and dry thoroughly.
- Inspect knobs: Check for cracks or stripped inserts. Replace any damaged knobs.
- Check stem movement: Gently turn the bare valve stem. If it binds or feels gritty, the valve may be contaminated or worn.
Replace the gas valve if the stem is difficult to turn even after cleaning. Do not lubricate valve stems with non-approved lubricants, as this can affect gas sealing.
