Possible Causes

Burned-out radiant element, Failed infinite switch or power relay, Loose wiring at element terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the cooktop glass or accessing internal wiring.

  • Confirm symptom: Turn the suspect element to high and verify that the indicator light does not come on and no heat is produced.
  • Access element (advanced): Remove the cooktop from the counter and carefully lift the glass to access the radiant elements.
  • Inspect wiring: Check for loose or burnt wires at the element terminals and at the switch or relay board.
  • Test element: Disconnect the element and measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit (OL) indicates a failed element.

Replace the radiant heating element if open. If the element tests good, the infinite switch or relay controlling that element may be defective and should be replaced.
