Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you smell gas, do not attempt to light burners. Ventilate the area, avoid sparks, and contact your gas supplier or emergency services.
- Verify gas supply: Ensure the manual shutoff valve to the cooktop or range is fully open (handle parallel to the pipe).
- Check other gas appliances: If other gas appliances in the home also do not work, the issue may be with the main gas supply.
- Bleed air from line: After new installation, air in the line can prevent ignition. Turn a burner knob to ignite and hold for several seconds to allow gas to reach the burner, then spark. Repeat for each burner.
- Inspect regulator: Confirm the gas pressure regulator on the appliance is installed in the correct direction and not blocked.
If gas supply is confirmed and d0 persists with no ignition, have a qualified technician check gas pressure and the regulator.
