Induction zone will not start and shows E3 immediately or shortly after activation.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This involves high-voltage checks. If you are not experienced with electrical work, contact a qualified technician. Always turn off power at the breaker and verify with a meter before touching wiring.
- Power reset: Turn off the cooktop at the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power and test again.
- Verify dedicated circuit: Ensure the cooktop is on its own properly sized double-pole breaker as specified in the Thermador installation manual.
- Inspect terminal block: With power off, remove the junction box cover and check that L1, L2, and ground are tight and not discolored or burnt. Tighten loose screws.
- Check supply voltage: With a multimeter and power on, verify voltage between L1–L2 is within the specified range (typically 208–240 VAC). Also check L1–G and L2–G.
If supply voltage is correct and connections are solid but E3 persists, the power module's voltage sensing circuit is likely faulty and the module should be replaced.
