Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels.
- Power cycle: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes E6 is a transient communication error.
- Check for moisture: Inspect around the control area for signs of liquid intrusion. Spills can short communication lines.
- Internal harness check (advanced): Remove the cooktop and bottom cover. Locate the multi-pin harness between the UI board and the main power module. Disconnect and reconnect the harness to clean the contacts. Look for bent pins or corrosion.
- Inspect boards: Look for burnt or cracked components on both the UI and power boards.
If reseating the harness does not resolve E6, either the user interface board or the main power module will need replacement. In many cases, technicians replace the module that shows visible damage or follow Thermador diagnostic procedures to isolate the faulty board.
