Oven displays F2 and may shut off during a bake or broil cycle, often when very hot.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.

Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Check for obvious overheating: Ensure oven vents are not blocked and that the cooling fan (if equipped) runs during high-temperature operation.
- Inspect temperature sensor: Locate the thin metal rod (RTD sensor) protruding into the oven cavity, usually on the back wall. Check that it is firmly mounted and not touching the oven walls.
- Test sensor resistance (advanced): With power off, remove the rear panel or control panel to access the sensor connector. Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, most Thermador sensors read around 1080 ohms at 70°F (21°C). A reading far outside spec indicates a bad sensor.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the sensor to the control board for damage or shorts.
If the sensor and wiring test good, the electronic oven control may be misreading temperature or leaving a heating relay stuck on and should be replaced.
