Possible Causes
Shorted RTD sensor, Sensor wires pinched to chassis, Failed control board interpreting sensor signal incorrectly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Check where the sensor passes through the oven wall. Look for pinched or bare wires contacting metal.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A very low resistance (near 0 ohms) indicates a shorted sensor.
- Check harness: Inspect and test the harness for shorts between the two sensor leads and between each lead and chassis ground.
Replace the oven temperature sensor if shorted. If the sensor and wiring are normal but F4 remains, the electronic oven control board likely needs replacement.
