Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Misaligned latch, Defective door lock switch, Broken wiring to lock assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before working around the door lock mechanism.

  • Check door closure: Ensure the oven door closes fully and is not obstructed by racks or pans.
  • Listen for lock motor: When starting a self-clean cycle, you should hear the lock motor run. If silent, the motor or control may be faulty.
  • Inspect latch: Open the door and inspect the latch hook and strike for bending or misalignment. Gently straighten if needed.
  • Access lock assembly (advanced): Remove the top panel or rear panel (depending on model) to access the lock motor and switches. Check connectors and wiring for damage.

If the lock motor does not run or the switches do not change state when the latch moves, replace the door lock assembly. If the lock works mechanically but F5 persists, the control board may not be reading the lock switches correctly and may need replacement.
