Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs OFF and disconnect power to the cooktop or range before cleaning around igniters.
- Dry igniters: If there was a spill or boil-over, remove burner caps and gently dry the igniter electrodes with a soft cloth. Allow several hours of air drying if heavily soaked.
- Clean electrodes: Wipe the ceramic and metal tip of each igniter with a damp cloth, then dry. Remove any food residue or grease.
- Re-seat caps: Ensure burner caps are correctly positioned to allow the flame to contact the igniter area.
- Power reset: Restore power and test. If clicking continues with all knobs OFF, an ignition switch or spark module may be stuck and require replacement.
If only one burner causes continuous clicking when turned on, replace that burner’s igniter electrode. If all burners click continuously, the spark module or a stuck valve switch is likely at fault.
