Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Low gas pressure, Blocked or kinked gas orifice
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all knobs OFF. If you smell gas, ventilate the area and do not attempt ignition.
- Clean burner: Remove the grate and burner cap. Clean the burner head and ports with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Use a wooden toothpick to clear clogged holes.
- Dry thoroughly: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembly; moisture can prevent ignition.
- Re-seat cap: Place the burner cap squarely on the burner base so it sits level and centered.
- Test ignition: Turn the knob to ignite and observe. If the burner lights but goes out when you release the knob, hold it in for a few seconds longer to allow the flame sensor to heat.
If the burner still will not light but others work normally, the gas orifice for that burner may be blocked and should be cleaned or replaced by a technician.
