Possible Causes

Open bake heating element (electric), Failed bake igniter (gas), Faulty bake relay on control board, Broken wiring to bake element/igniter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and, for gas models, shut off gas supply before accessing elements or igniters.

  • Visual inspection (electric): Look at the bake element for blisters, cracks, or breaks. A visibly damaged element must be replaced.
  • Continuity test (electric): Remove at least one wire from the element and test for continuity with a multimeter. An open reading indicates a bad element.
  • Igniter check (gas): Start a bake cycle and observe the igniter. It should glow bright orange within 30–60 seconds. If it glows weakly or not at all, it is likely defective.
  • Gas valve behavior (gas): If the igniter glows but the burner never lights, the igniter may not be drawing enough current to open the gas valve and should be replaced.

Replace the bake element (electric) or bake igniter (gas) if defective. If these parts test good, the control board’s bake relay or wiring may be at fault.
