Possible Causes
Open broil element (electric), Failed broil igniter (gas), Faulty broil relay on control board, Loose wiring to broil circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and shut off gas (for gas models) before servicing.
- Visual inspection: Inspect the broil element at the top of the oven for visible breaks or burn spots.
- Continuity test (electric): Disconnect one lead and test the broil element for continuity. Replace if open.
- Igniter check (gas): Start a broil cycle and observe the igniter. If it does not glow or the burner does not light, replace the broil igniter.
If the element or igniter is good, the broil relay on the control board or associated wiring may be defective and require replacement.
