Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control board relay, Welded bake or broil relay contacts, Poor sensor harness connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the range at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Visual check: Confirm that the oven is not physically blocked (foil on bottom, blocked vents) which can trap heat. Remove any foil or obstructions.
- Test oven temperature sensor: Access the rear of the range, locate the oven temperature sensor probe (usually mounted on the rear oven wall inside, with two wires leading to the back). Disconnect the sensor harness and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. A typical Thor Kitchen sensor should read around 1080–1100 Ω at 77°F (25°C). If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace it.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness from the probe to the EOC for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Control board evaluation: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC may have a stuck relay causing continuous heating. Replace the electronic oven control board if F2 recurs.
