Possible Causes

Shorted temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Melted harness insulation near oven cavity, Failed EOC sensing circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool fully before working.

  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven back panel. Follow the sensor wires from the probe to the control board. Look for melted insulation, bare wires touching metal, or signs of overheating.
  • Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
  • Check harness for shorts: With the sensor disconnected at both ends, test each wire to chassis ground with a multimeter. Any continuity indicates a short to ground; repair or replace the harness.
  • Control board check: If sensor and wiring are good but F4 persists, the EOC input circuit may be shorted internally. Replace the electronic oven control board.
