Possible Causes

Failed oven cooling fan motor, Blocked cooling air vents, Faulty fan relay on control board, Open or shorted high-limit thermostat (if equipped)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut‑resistant gloves.

  • Check vents: Ensure the range is installed with proper clearance and that rear and front cooling vents are not blocked by foil, pans, or cabinetry.
  • Listen for fan: During a bake cycle (if safe to test), you should hear the internal cooling fan run. If it is silent and F8 appears, suspect the fan circuit.
  • Access cooling fan: Remove the rear panel to locate the oven cooling fan assembly. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
  • Test fan voltage: With power applied and a bake cycle started (only if qualified), check for 120 VAC at the fan motor leads when the oven is heating. If voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the cooling fan motor. If no voltage, the control board or relay is faulty.
  • Inspect high-limit thermostat: Some Thor Kitchen models use a high-limit thermostat in series with the fan. Test for continuity; replace if open.
