Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned thermocouple tip, Weak thermocouple, Faulty magnet valve in gas tap, Poor grounding of burner assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the area is well ventilated. Turn the burner knob to OFF and wait a few minutes before retrying.
User steps:
- Clean the burner cap and head; ensure all gas ports are free of debris.
- Locate the small metal rod (thermocouple) near the burner; gently clean its tip with a soft cloth or fine scouring pad to remove soot.
- When lighting, press and hold the knob for 5–10 seconds after the flame appears to allow the thermocouple to heat.
Technical steps (gas technician):
- Check the thermocouple output voltage when heated; if below specification, replace the thermocouple.
- If the thermocouple is good, the gas valve's magnet unit may be defective and the gas tap assembly should be replaced.
