Possible Causes
Incoming line voltage below specification, Loose connections at terminal block, Damaged power cord or range cord, Faulty house breaker or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting the terminal block or power connections.
Steps to check and correct:
- Verify supply voltage: Have a qualified person measure the voltage at the range receptacle or terminal block. Viking ranges typically require 240V (split-phase) with proper neutral and ground.
- Inspect terminal block: Remove the rear cover to access the terminal block where the power cord connects. Look for loose screws, burnt lugs, or melted insulation. Tighten connections and replace any damaged parts.
- Check power cord: Inspect the range cord for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. Replace if any damage is found.
- House wiring and breaker: If voltage is unstable or low, an electrician should inspect the breaker panel and branch circuit wiring.
- Reset control: After correcting power issues, turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then back on to reset the control. If F08 persists with correct voltage, the control board may be faulty.
When to call a technician: For any work involving live voltage measurements or house wiring, use a licensed electrician or appliance technician.
