Possible Causes
Failed radiant element, open limiter, burned wire at element, failed surface element switch or control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before lifting the cooktop or accessing elements.
- Check indicator: If the hot surface or element-on indicator works but the element does not heat, suspect the element itself.
- Continuity test: Access the underside of the cooktop, disconnect the element leads, and test the element for continuity. Replace if open.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burned or loose wires at the element and switch/control.
- Switch/control test: If the element is good, test the infinite switch or electronic control output to that element and replace if not sending power.
