Possible Causes
Open oven temperature sensor, shorted oven temperature sensor, damaged sensor harness, loose sensor connector at control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before testing.
- Access sensor: Remove the rear panel of the range. Locate the oven temperature sensor harness connector.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should be around 1080 Ω. If reading is infinite (open) or very low (shorted), replace the sensor.
- Check harness: If sensor tests good, check continuity of the harness from sensor connector to the control board connector. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
- Control board check: If sensor and harness are good, the EOC may be misreading the sensor. Inspect the control board for burn marks and replace if necessary.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power, and run a bake cycle to confirm normal operation.
