Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, sensor wire insulation melted and shorting to chassis, failed electronic oven control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before servicing.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear panel and visually inspect the sensor wires where they pass near the oven cavity. Look for melted insulation or bare wires touching metal.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Replace the sensor if resistance is significantly lower than ~1080 Ω or if it changes erratically when gently wiggled.
- Check for shorts: With the sensor disconnected, check for continuity between each sensor lead and chassis ground. There should be no continuity. If there is, repair the harness.
- Replace control if needed: If sensor and wiring are good and F4 persists, replace the electronic oven control board.
