Gas cooktop burner ignites but flame is weak or uneven

Safety first: Turn off burners and allow them to cool before disassembly. Do not modify gas components beyond cleaning unless qualified.

• Clean burner: Remove burner cap and head. Clean all ports with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Ensure ports are fully open.
• Check cap alignment: Reinstall the cap correctly; misalignment can cause uneven flame.
• Verify gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve is fully open and that other gas appliances in the home operate normally.
• Orifice check: If the appliance was converted from natural gas to LP (or vice versa), verify the correct orifices were installed per Whirlpool instructions.
