Possible Causes

Weak or open bake igniter, failed gas safety valve, broken igniter wiring, control not sending power to igniter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off gas supply and disconnect power before servicing. Gas leaks and live voltage are hazardous.

  • Visual check: Set oven to bake and observe the igniter (with panels in place and power on). A healthy igniter should glow bright orange and the burner should light within 30–60 seconds. If it does not glow or glows weakly and never lights the burner, the igniter is likely bad.
  • Test igniter: Disconnect power, remove the oven bottom panel, and access the igniter. Disconnect its connector and test for continuity. Replace if open or if it glowed but did not light the burner.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from igniter to gas valve and control for damage. Repair as needed.
  • Gas valve test: If a new igniter glows but the burner still does not light, the gas safety valve may be faulty and should be replaced as a complete assembly.
