Possible Causes
Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD), Damaged sensor harness or connector at control board, Failed electronic oven control (EOC)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the range off at the control panel and disconnect power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working inside.
- Access the sensor: Open the oven door and locate the temperature sensor probe on the rear interior wall (usually upper left or upper center). It is a thin metal rod held by 2 screws.
- Check for damage: Inspect the sensor for burns, cracks in the sheath, or loose mounting. Tighten screws if loose.
- Test resistance: With power still off, remove the rear panel or top access (per Wolf service manual) to reach the sensor connector. Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F / 21°C) it should read about 1050–1100 Ω. If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the control board for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Reseat the connector at the control board.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power, clear the code by turning the breaker off for 1 minute, then start a bake cycle. If E01 returns with a good sensor and wiring, the electronic oven control is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
