Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock mechanism, Misaligned door latch, Faulty lock position switch or wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the oven is cool. Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the lock assembly.

  • Check door alignment: Verify the oven door closes fully and evenly. Adjust hinges or tighten hinge screws if the door is sagging or misaligned.
  • Inspect latch: Open the door and inspect the latch hook on the door and the receiver on the frame. Clean any grease or debris that may prevent full engagement.
  • Access lock motor: Remove the top panel or rear panel (model dependent) to access the door lock motor assembly. Look for bent linkage or obstructions.
  • Test lock motor: With power off, disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance. An open motor indicates failure and requires replacement of the lock assembly.
  • Check switches: Many lock assemblies include position switches. Test continuity while manually moving the lock. Replace the assembly if switches do not change state.
  • Reassemble and test: Restore power and attempt self-clean. If E08 persists, the control board may not be driving the lock correctly and should be evaluated by a technician.
