Possible Causes

Wet or contaminated burner valve switch, Shorted ignition switch harness, Failed spark module sensing circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF. If you smell gas, shut off the gas supply and ventilate the area.

  • Dry the switches: If the issue started after cleaning, moisture may be in the burner valve switches. Unplug the unit or turn off power at the breaker. Allow the cooktop to dry for 24 hours. A fan blowing across the surface can speed drying.
  • Isolate the switch: With power disconnected, lift the cooktop and locate the small micro-switches on each burner valve. Disconnect one switch at a time and restore power briefly to see if the clicking stops. The switch that, when disconnected, stops the clicking is likely faulty.
  • Replace faulty switch: Replace the defective burner valve switch or switch harness as a set if available.
  • Module check: If all switches test good but clicking persists, the spark module may be defective and require replacement.
