Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports near igniter, Misaligned burner cap, Weak or cracked igniter electrode, Loose igniter wire connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF and ensure there is no gas odor before working on the cooktop.
- Check burner cap placement: Remove and reseat the burner cap so it sits level and centered on the burner head. Misalignment can prevent proper ignition.
- Clean burner ports: Remove the burner cap and head. Use a soft brush and a wooden toothpick to clear any debris from the gas ports, especially the small port closest to the igniter.
- Inspect igniter: Examine the ceramic igniter tip for cracks or heavy buildup. Clean gently with a soft brush; do not use abrasive pads.
- Test spark: Turn the knob to ignite and observe the spark. If there is no spark at that burner but others spark, the electrode or its wire may be faulty and should be replaced.
