Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven and shut off power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Allow to cool: Open the oven door and let the cavity cool completely. Do not attempt to troubleshoot while surfaces are hot.
- Check for blocked vents: Ensure rear and bottom vents around the Zline range are not blocked by cabinets, foil, or pans. Clear any obstructions.
- Inspect oven temperature sensor: Locate the thin metal rod (RTD sensor) protruding from the rear oven wall. Check that it is firmly mounted and not bent or touching the wall. From the rear of the range, access the sensor connector and ensure it is tight.
- Basic sensor test: With power OFF, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~77°F / 25°C), it should read around 1080–1100 Ω. If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the bake/broil relay on the electronic oven control may be stuck. In this case, the EOC should be replaced.
When to call a technician: If you cannot safely pull the range out or do not have a meter to test the sensor, contact a professional to diagnose and replace the sensor or control board.
