Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn burner OFF and allow components to cool. If you smell gas, shut off supply and ventilate.
- Clean flame sensor: On many Zline gas cooktops, the spark igniter also acts as the flame sensor. Gently clean the ceramic and metal tip with a non-abrasive pad to remove carbon buildup.
- Check flame contact: Ensure the burner cap is correctly positioned so that the flame contacts the igniter tip when lit.
- Eliminate drafts: Avoid strong drafts from open windows or range hoods on high speed that can blow the flame away from the sensor.
- Test other burners: If all burners show NO FLAME, gas pressure or the spark module may be at fault and should be checked professionally.
When to call a technician: Persistent flame failure on one or more burners after cleaning and alignment requires testing of gas pressure and the spark/flame sensing circuitry by a qualified technician.
