Possible Causes
Loose or damaged communication harness, Oxidized connectors, Faulty display PCB, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any covers or touching wiring.
Basic reset:
- Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes to fully discharge the electronics, then reconnect. If E6 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient glitch.
Harness and board checks:
- Remove the display/control panel and inspect the ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main board.
- Check for pinched, cut, or twisted wires, and for any signs of moisture or corrosion.
- Unplug and replug all connectors between the display and main board several times to clean contacts.
- Inspect both PCBs for burnt components or cracked solder joints.
Component replacement:
- If the harness is damaged, replace it.
- If the harness is good, replace the display PCB first, as it is usually easier and cheaper.
- If E6 persists, the main control board is likely faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
