Possible Causes
Faulty door switch or reed sensor, Magnet missing or misaligned in door, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty main control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing door switch or trim pieces.
Quick checks:
- Verify that the door closes fully and that no shelves or containers are preventing a tight seal.
- Check for a small magnet embedded in the door frame (for reed switch systems). Ensure it is present and not loose.
Door switch test:
- Locate the door switch (often at the top or side of the cabinet opening).
- Gently pry it out with a plastic tool, being careful not to damage the liner.
- With the fridge unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing and releasing the plunger. The reading should change between open and closed.
- If the switch does not change state, replace it.
- Inspect wiring for breaks or loose connectors and repair as needed.
After replacement: Refit the switch, restore power, and confirm that interior lights and alarms behave correctly and that E7 is cleared.
