Possible Causes

Failed condenser temperature sensor, Blocked condenser coils causing overheating, Faulty condenser fan, Faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear or base. Beware of hot compressor and condenser components.

Ventilation and cleaning:

  • Pull the refrigerator away from the wall to ensure adequate ventilation space (typically at least 5 cm at the back and sides).
  • Remove the lower rear cover to access the condenser and compressor.
  • Use a soft brush and vacuum to clean dust and lint from the condenser coils and fan blades.

Fan and sensor checks:

  • Spin the condenser fan by hand; it should move freely without noise. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
  • Locate the condenser temperature sensor (often clipped near the condenser or compressor). Inspect for damage and test resistance with a multimeter; replace if readings are out of expected NTC range.
  • Check wiring and connectors from the sensor and fan to the main control board.

After service: Refit the rear cover, restore power, and monitor operation. If E8 persists despite good airflow, fan, and sensor, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
