Possible Causes

Clogged drain hole with food debris or ice, Frozen drain tube, Misaligned drain funnel under evaporator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working inside with tools or hot water.

Clearing the drain:

  • Locate the defrost drain hole at the back of the fridge or freezer compartment (often under a small cover or at the bottom of the rear panel).
  • Remove any visible debris with a soft brush or cloth.
  • Use a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain with warm (not boiling) water until it flows freely to the drain pan underneath.
  • If the drain is frozen, allow time for ice to melt or gently warm the area with warm water.

Check drain pan:

  • Remove the rear lower cover and inspect the drain pan above the compressor. Ensure it is correctly positioned and not cracked.
