Possible Causes
Open or shorted freezer thermistor, Damaged harness, Loose connector at control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the freezer back panel or control board.
- Access freezer thermistor: Remove shelves and the rear interior panel of the freezer to expose the evaporator area. The thermistor is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or nearby.
- Inspect sensor and wires: Look for broken insulation, corrosion, or a loose clip that may cause poor temperature sensing.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and test with a multimeter. Compare reading to the temperature/resistance chart in the tech sheet. Replace if out of spec.
- Reassemble carefully: Reclip the new thermistor in the same location, reinstall the panel, and restore power. Confirm that the E2 code clears.
