Display shows E9; compressor may not start or may short-cycle, and cooling is poor.

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the compressor compartment. Refrigerant system work must be done by a licensed technician.

• Access compressor area: Remove the rear lower access panel to expose the compressor and start components.
• Inspect start relay: Remove the relay/overload from the compressor terminals and shake it gently. If it rattles or shows burn marks, it is likely bad.
• Test relay and capacitor (advanced): Use a multimeter to check for continuity and proper capacitance. Replace any failed components.
• Check compressor windings: Measure resistance between compressor terminals. Very high or zero readings may indicate a failed compressor.
• Replace start device: If the compressor windings test good, install a new OEM start relay/overload (and capacitor if used). If the compressor is locked or shorted, a sealed system repair or replacement unit is required.
