Freezer display shows H2 and freezer temperature is higher than setpoint; ice cream is soft and ice cubes may be melting.

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing any interior panels or working near the evaporator fan.

• Inspect door and gasket: Ensure the freezer door closes fully and the gasket is clean and undamaged. Wipe gasket and mating surfaces with warm soapy water and dry.
• Check for frost buildup: Look at the back wall of the freezer. Heavy frost or snow-like buildup indicates a defrost or door-seal issue. Manually defrost by unplugging the unit and leaving doors open for 24 hours with towels to catch water.
• Verify fan operation: After defrosting and restoring power, listen for the evaporator fan running when the compressor is on and the door switch is held closed. If silent, the fan motor may be failed.
• Reset the alarm: Use the Alarm Reset or Temp button to clear H2. If it returns, test the freezer thermistor resistance and wiring continuity (advanced step).
• Replace faulty parts: If the thermistor is out of spec or the fan does not run with proper voltage present, replace the defective component.
