Possible Causes
Recent power outage, Loose power plug, Tripped household breaker, GFCI outlet tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You can work on the controls with the unit plugged in, but do not remove panels or touch wiring with power connected.
- Confirm power is stable: Check that other appliances on the same circuit are working. Reset any tripped breakers or GFCI outlets.
- Verify plug connection: Make sure the refrigerator plug is fully seated in the wall outlet and not loose or warm to the touch.
- Clear the PO alarm: On most Amana models, press and hold the Alarm Reset or Measured Fill/Alarm button for 3–5 seconds until the code clears. Refer to the user manual if the button labels differ.
- Check temperatures: Allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to return to normal. Avoid repeatedly opening the doors while it cools down.
- Monitor for reoccurrence: If the PO alarm returns without an actual outage, have the outlet checked by an electrician and consider a dedicated circuit for the refrigerator.
