Possible Causes

Door left open, Recent large warm food load, Power outage, Failing compressor or sealed system leak, Evaporator fan not running

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit before removing any panels.

Steps to resolve:

  • 1. Check doors: Ensure all doors are fully closed and gaskets are sealing properly. Remove items blocking the door from closing.
  • 2. Allow recovery time: After loading warm food or after a power cut, it can take 12–24 hours for temperatures to stabilize. Keep doors closed as much as possible.
  • 3. Verify cooling: Place a thermometer in the fridge and freezer. If temperatures do not drop below about 8 °C (fridge) and -12 °C (freezer) after 24 hours, there is likely a fault.
  • 4. Check fans and compressor: Listen for the compressor running and feel for gentle vibration at the back. Check that the internal fan(s) run when doors are closed (press door switch to test). If fans or compressor are not running, further diagnosis of those systems is needed.
  • 5. Clear the alarm: Most models allow you to silence the alarm by pressing the alarm or OK button. This does not fix the cause; continue troubleshooting if temperatures remain high.
  • 6. Professional help: If the compressor runs continuously but temperatures stay high, there may be a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary). These require a licensed refrigeration technician.
