Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve, Blocked water filter, Faulty flow sensor, Kinked or frozen water line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator and close the water supply valve before working on water components.
Steps:
- 1. Check water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve is fully open and that water pressure is adequate.
- 2. Inspect for kinks or freezing: Follow the water line from the wall to the fridge and inside the fridge door (if applicable). Straighten kinks and thaw any frozen sections by turning off the unit and allowing it to warm slightly.
- 3. Replace water filter: If fitted, replace the water filter according to the manufacturer’s schedule; a clogged filter can trigger flow errors.
- 4. Test the inlet valve: With power off, disconnect the valve and measure coil resistance. Replace the valve if coils are open or if it does not open when energized (live tests should be done only by qualified persons).
- 5. Flow sensor: If the model uses a flow sensor, inspect and replace it if it shows no pulses when water should be flowing.
