Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before servicing the inlet valve.

Steps:

Check water pressure: Ensure the household supply provides at least the minimum pressure (typically 20–40 psi). Very low pressure can cause fill errors.
Inspect inlet line: Look for kinks or crushed sections in the water line to the refrigerator.
Clean inlet screen: Remove the rear lower panel, locate the water inlet valve, disconnect the supply line, and inspect the small screen filter. Clean gently if clogged.
Replace valve: If the valve leaks when closed or does not open when energized (technician test), replace the water inlet valve assembly.
Check ice maker alignment: Ensure the ice maker is level so water flows into the mold and not over the sides.

Note: After repair, monitor the next few ice cycles to confirm proper fill level.
