Possible Causes
Faulty ice maker temperature sensor, Failed ice level sensor or switch, Ice maker harness connection loose, Ice buildup around ice maker mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator or switch off the circuit breaker before working on the ice maker.
Steps:
- Check for ice jams: Remove the ice bin and inspect the ice maker for clumped ice or cubes stuck in the ejector arms. Clear any obstructions with warm water and a soft cloth.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the ice maker harness connector (often at the side or rear of the ice maker assembly). Ensure it is fully seated and not corroded.
- Reset ice maker: Many Arctic ice makers have a small reset button or a power switch. Press and hold reset (if present) for 5–10 seconds or toggle the switch off/on.
- Check temperature: Ensure the freezer is at or below -15°C (5°F). If too warm, the ice maker sensor may not allow harvest.
- Replace ice maker assembly: If E6 persists and there is no visible wiring damage, the internal sensor or control of the ice maker is likely defective. Replace the complete ice maker module for the most reliable repair.
Note: After repair, allow 12–24 hours for normal ice production to resume.
